This Sea to Sky Activity Guide has a mix of local events, adventures, activities and patio experiences from Britannia Beach to Squamish and Whistler. The Sea to Sky corridor has something for everyone to enjoy as we soak up the last few weeks of summer!

Britannia Mine Museum

There’s plenty to see and do at the Britannia Mine Museum, with guided tours, gold panning and self-led exploration of the social history of Britannia Beach.
Experience the working conditions of a real mine on the Underground Tour. Travel by mine train to learn about Britannia’s quest for copper inside an early haulage tunnel. Discover a thrilling light, sound and special effects experience inside the historic Mill. BOOM! Brings all 20 storeys back to life sharing the Mill’s captivating story and sounds. The 10-acre site is itself an exhibit providing unique access to an important piece of Canadian history.
Tours run regularly throughout the day and reservations are highly recommended.

Railway Museum Of BC

The Railway Museum of BC is committed to preserving and interpreting BC’s railway history. Wander around the carefully curated exhibits in the beautiful Roundhouse featuring the famous Royal Hudson. Admission includes unlimited rides on the Mini-Rail trains, the BC-21 “Budd” rail Diesel car and the Maintenance-Of-Way Track Speeder.

 

Scandinave Spa Whistler

Squamish Arts Festival

The 11th annual Squamish Arts Festival is a two week festival that runs from August 6th – 17th showcasing renowned performers from the Sea to Sky and Lower Mainland with a selection of low-barrier workshops and talks, and two free festival days.
The full day event on August 10th at Junction Park in Downtown Squamish is one of the highlights of the Squamish Arts Festival: a family-friendly day of live music, roaming performers, food trucks, an artisan market hosted by Neighbourhood Craft, and more. Cleveland Avenue is closed between Victoria and Main Streets for the duration, creating a safe and inviting area for festival goers. Performer highlights include Squamish dance group Menásta ti Snew̓ íyelh Texwta7 ti Smén̓hem (The beating drum of the unborn history), Whistler’s Ryan Harris, and Vancouver-based Blonde Diamond.

 

Squamish Days Loggers Sports Festival

This year marks the 67th anniversary of the Squamish Days Loggers Sports Festival and Squamish’s longest running community event. The festival runs for 4 days over the August long weekend with loads of exciting activities and events throughout the town. The 2 days of Loggers Sports Shows pack in a full crowd to watch the competitors test their strength, stamina and skill on a variety of events such as tree climbing, tree chopping, hand bucking, birling, the choker race and more.
Hundreds flock to the Squamish Valley Golf Club to watch the Kettle Boil Challenge and Axe Throwing Competition as well as enjoying the delicious samples in the popular Chili Cook-Off. Downtown Squamish comes alive with the Chair Carving event, Kids’ Festival and wacky Bed Races. Plus Sunday morning is always fun with the Pancake Breakfast and Parade.

 

Squamish Farmers Market

The best local supporters! The Squamish Farmers Market has been the community gathering spot for over 21 years and runs from 10am – 3pm on Saturdays in downtown Squamish.
With a selection of over 50 vendors, local musicians, kids crafts and community tables there is something for everyone from farm to bakery, lifestyle and pantry. Pick up your fresh veggies and grab some locally prepared hot food and beverages. The market is also the perfect spot to find unique gifts and treats. All waiting for you right in the heart of Downtown Squamish.

 

Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Centre

Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Centre is Whistler’s authentic indigenous experience. Connect with an Ambassador on a guided tour, take an Interpretive Forest Walk (daily at 2pm), explore the Gallery and Gift Shop and enjoy First Nations inspired cuisine at the Thunderbird Café.
Guests are invited to experience the Salish Summer Carving Series Wednesday – Saturday with with live carving by Lil’wat Master Carver Jonanthon Joe and SLCC Apprentice Redmond Q̓awām (Wolf) Redmond Andrews from the Lil’wat Nation.

 

Sp’akw’us Feather Shakedown

The fourth annual Sp’akw’us Feather Shakedown takes place on August 17th at the brand new Sp’akw’us Feather Park at Oceanfront Squamish. A truly memorable event, featuring local culture and tradition, and world class talent performing against Squamish’s natural dramatic landscape.
Following traditional Squamish Nation Canoe Protocol, the Nation’s ocean going canoes will land on Main Beach for the first time in 100 years, reviving culture and welcoming canoes back to the territory. Food vendors and a range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages will be on site. The later part of the event will feature live performances from DJ Kookum, Bitterly Divine, headliners The Funk Hunters, and more!

 

Squamish Plaza

The Summer Music Series is on every weekend at Squamish’s newest community hub. The Squamish Plaza hosts live DJ’s, lawn games, food trucks and a beer garden every weekend. Look out for their mini artisan markets too. Nestled at the vibrant intersection of Cleveland Avenue and Main Street next to the August Jack Inn. All are welcome to these FREE events. Good tunes, good food, good vibes. Embrace the beauty of outdoor yoga as you stretch and breathe together at The Squamish Plaza.
